Harare Mambos lead singer Sillah Jangano dies
Virginia Sillah Jangano was at her time one of the first women to wade into the world of township jazz and as a lead singer.As the front for the iconic band The Harare Mambos, she was part of a cultural revolution, delving into a rich new world with song and dance. She famously sang the iconic Mbuya Nehanda Kufa Vachitaura. She transcended genres singing jazz, traditional, soul among others.
Sadly, after living 16 years in the United Kingdom she passed, her family has confirmed.
Sillah passed away at the age of 64 passed away at the Hillingdon Hospital in London.
