Emtee, Soul Jah Love, Mpho Popps announced for Shoko 2017
Award-winning South African rapper Emtee will headline this year’s Shoko Festival.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Harare held at Moto Republik on Wednesday.
Emtee will perform on the 29th of September.
Also on the bill for the urban music festival are dancehall star Soul Jah Love, Simba Tagz and ExQ. Takura and Cal Vin are also on the list.
Turn tablist DJ Yoda from the UK is part of the lineup. From Norway, spoken word musicians Taro Cooper and Julian Sommerfeldt will come through.
On the comedy lineup, popular SA comic Mpho Popps is set to headline. Local comedians will be announced over the next month.
On the lack of female performers announced, festival director Samm ‘Comrade Fatso’ Monro said they and other artists would be announced soon too.
The festival will for the third year in a row take place at the Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences in Harare on 29 and 30 September before moving to Chitungwiza on the 1st of October.
Tickets are priced at $10 a day for general entry while university students with an ID will pay $4.
