51% Comedy Gets An Extra HIFA Slot After Public Demand

After selling out within hours of sales, 51% comedy is getting an extra slot at the Harare International Festival of the Arts.

In essence the tickets were gone before they were even on general sale to the public.

So now there will be a third slot made for Thursday 2 May at REPS Theatre from 8.30pm. It is a one hour show.

The man behind the show, Samm ‘Comrade Fatso’ Monro said:

We’ve had an overwhelming response from the general public. It’s unbelievable how quickly the tickets sold out. This shows how popular stand up comedy is as a genre in Zimbabwe. Thanks to the huge demand for the 51% show we will definitely stage an extra show at Reps Theatre during HIFA. Meanwhile we are already planning big 51% shows in May and June in Harare and Bulawayo to satisfy all the comedy fans out there. So watch the press for details of a 51% show at a venue near you!

Yep, 51% Comedy will also then have runs around Harare and Bulawayo in May and June.

The show will feature one of Zimbabwe’s stand up pioneers, Michael Kudakwashe, the hilarious Comrade Fatso and the outstanding, new-kid-on-the-block, Clive Chigubu. The show has emerged from the Bang Bang Comedy Club, Zimbabwe’s premier monthly comedy event, organized by Magamba Network.

HIFA kicks off on 30 April an runs until 5 May.
