The African National Congress has reacted with fury over the new Jacob Zuma painting showing the exposed genitals of the South African Head of State.
Said ANC spokesperson Keith Khoza:
We condemn this painting in the strongest terms. Any portrayal of President Zuma in this way is disrespectful.
It makes a mockery of the president’s office, his status as a father and a husband, and is an absolute abuse of the arts.
The ANC said that it was now considering its position on Ayanda Mbalula’s Umshini Wam panting.
The party even went on to question Mbalula’s upbringing saying that he perhaps should have shown his own manhood instead of Zuma’s.
Mbalula’s painting is at the AVA gallery in Cape Town and has a price tag of R65,000.
