Facebook has released a statement saying that up to 83 million of the users on its site are fake.
That is roughly 6 times the population of Zimbabwe or about one and a third times that of South Africa.
Facebook acknowledged that 8.7% of its accounts are bogus. Of that 8.7%, 4.8% are duplicate accounts, 2.4% are user-misclassified accounts and 1.5% are “undesirable” accounts, a.k.a. spam, according to Mashable.
Facebook bans 20,000 accounts a day and 600,000 are compromised.
In essence 872 million accounts are real, according to Facebook.

Yeah, we see you, fake ones. And Facebook knows what you are doing.
