A manager with a local company has been arrested in the ongoing Harare water poisoning saga.
The man is expected to appear in court today and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Farai Muchenje, a logistics manager with Pair Trade Investments, is now ‘assisting police with investigations’. The police say everyone involved in the boob will be brought to book. That means more arrests will be made.
Local Government, Rural and Urban Development Minister Ignatius Chombo has also not missed out on this photo-op. He has said all chemicals must now be checked thoroughly before leaving the warehouse. This came after the council shockingly admitted that this was not an isolated incident. Wrong and substandard chemicals have been delivered on occasion. We can believe that given the state of our water in Harare.
Harare’s water was almost poisoned last week when 19 tonnes of sodium cyanide was almost deposited into it instead of the usual water purification chemicals.
