Mbira songstress Chiwoniso Maraire is in Kigali, Rwanda for a perfomance at the KigaliUp Festival this weekend

Chiwoniso is set to team up with South African hip hop supergroup Tumi and The Volume at the festival. Kigali Up will also feature Ismael Lo, Ikobe, MA3 and Ingoma Nshya, Rwanda’s first-ever women’s drumming group. These are women who lived through the Rwandan genocide of 1994 and are now planting a culture of hope, faith, love, respect and tolerance through their incredible drumming skills.

The festival ends tomorrow.
