Zimbabwe’s first independent licensed commercial radio station Star FM has gone live on Monday breaking the longtime monopoly ZBC has had on the airwaves.
The station has taken some of the voices from ZBC and then thrown in a few new voices. Some of the voices who have crossed the floor are Kudzi Marudza, Tich Mataz, Leander Kandiero, DJ Munya – although he was fired by Power FM. Among the new voices are rapper Blackbird, Noma, Grace to name a few.
Star FM is owned by Zimpapers. It is found on the 89.7 FM frequency in Harare. It is 93.1 in Bulawayo.
We are keen to find out what the station is going to bring to what was becoming a dull entertainment spectrum.
The newsreader summary person should pronounce Shona and Ndebele names properly though…
