Police will stop arresting people who do not have the new license disc, at least until the end of the month after the Zimbabwe National Road Admiistration (ZINARA) was forced to U-turn on the U-turn.
Earlier this week they had cancelled the first extension claiming that people had stopped trying to get the disc. Of course that upset a lot of people we thought it was pretty weird.
It even got so hectic that a woman actually sued ZINARA for this farcical situation. The Herald went to town quoting sources that said the u-turn was illegal. With that much pressure they had to change their stance.
Right now, all they can do is wait for the rush at the end of the month. As for those who have paid fines already, the police say there will be no refundsl
